Thin and raw, here are two perfect words to qualify Cécile Pic’s work.
With Cécile, jewels are a matter of balance : raw metal and precious stones, ancient civilisations and contemporary context or control and instinct. Welcome to the universe of Cécile Pic.
Could you please introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Cécile Pic, I am a thirty-something woman who like to create and make jewelry.
How would you define your universe?
It is a feminine and raw at the same time.
When and how have you decided to launch your brand?
Eight years ago, I have decided to leave Paris where I was working as a jewelry assistant for a designer. I came back home, in Toulouse. Creating my own story was obvious.

What have been your background before this launch?
I studied kinesitherapy and I ditched it all. I was looking for something not very precise at this time. Creation was a starting point !
I went to live in Barcelona as we follow a career path. There, I found a creativity and the belief that it could be inexhaustible. In Barcelona, I made my first jewels and found my first clients, my first shops.
I then went to Paris to be a jewelry assistant for a designer. I have learned rigor and technical skills and I have discovered the notion of Parisian elegance. It was very different from Barcelona exuberance.
I wanted to create, I was inspired and I understood where I wanted to go…everything could start !

How did your passion for jewelry start?
It came naturally. Beyond the jewel, I like the object. It is magnetic, emotional and symbolic. These are lines, colours, materials that can be declined endlessly.
At the beginning, technical skills are not the most important. Only the creativity allows to create your first jewels.
When have you created your first jewel and which kind of jewel was it ? How was it ? How did you feel?
When I decided to change life, I started to tinker clothes then jewels…some beads, wire, glue ! And I already had a collection. Necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelet…
And strangely, I didn’t want to wear it, I offered everything…My only pleasure was to create new ones.

How do you organize your creation process ?
Everything start with purchases. I do not limit myself, I buy everything I like even if I have no idea what of I am going to do.
Then, ideas come when I am in my workshop and when I work with materials. It sometimes brings me to things I would have never imagined in the first place.
Where do you find your inspiration ?
I love flea markets and auctions. This passion comes from my parents. By the way, I always go there with them.
There are my personal research about ancient jewels. Antiquity inspires me a lot. I also like to observe people livng with their jewels. Fashion and everything that gets into us allow us to be trendy.
