Cécile Pic likes each step of the jewel’s creation process. She tells us more details about her tools and her working approach.
Where do you work?
At home, in my Biarritz workshop.
What is your favourite tool?
A jewel is a process with many steps…I don’t have a favourite tool because I love to see the object evolution. I like to start with a raw material and create something precious.
I could mention verbs instead of tools : to solder, to forge, to file, to crimp, to grind, to polish…

What tools do you mostly use?
A torch to solder.
A ring tool to forge.
A handpiece to grind.
A polisher to polish.
Many grippers to set up.
What materials do you mostly use and why? Which one do you prefer?
I use brass. It can be gold plated or it can be raw and polished.
I love this metal. Its colour – a very light yellow – can be as beuatiful as gold if it is well polished and properly maintained.

How do you choose raw materials?
I buy all my materials to my providers in Paris.
I like to know what I am buying and I like to work together with my providers. To be able, for example, to order pieces I have imagine is essential.
Metal mostly comes from Europe (Germany) and some pieces and chains come from the U.S.
Regarding the gemstones, I work with 2 providers who have cutting workshops in Vietnam and in Germany. I also buy some cut stones in India.
Do you produce – by yourself – all the pieces of your collections?
Yes, I produce it in my workshop.
That’s why I have a very limited production and that’s something I have always liked.
What does a usual working day look like ?
I have always had my workshop at home. In the morning, I deal with emails, shipments and the brand in general. During the afternoon, I produce. I take care of the orders as a priority and when I have free time, I create new models. But it is more and more difficult to find time.
